Deborah Nash was admitted to the California State Bar in 1985 after working with the City of San Diego as a police officer. She graduated the University of California with a BA in communication and received her juris doctorate from California Western School of Law. Deborah is admitted to practice before all California state courts, the United States District Court, Southern District of California, Central District of California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. She has extensive experience in litigation and trial involving state and federal torts and employment matters. She has also taken the lead on several appeals and been involved in numerous state and federal cases that resulted in published opinions. The bulk of her career has been devoted to defending public entities and their employees including police officers, social workers, and prosecutors with a focus on civil rights under section 42 USC 1983. Deborah is admitted to the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) , an invitation only organization dedicated to preserving professionalism, civility, and integrity in pursuit of the seventh amendment’s right to a jury trial. She is also a founding member of the Inn of Court in North County San Diego and has spoken at numerous professional engagements including the North County Bar Association, the League of California Cities, County Counsel Association, and others. Deborah recently left the Oceanside City Attorney’s Office where she was an Assistant City Attorney, and she previously served as a Senior Deputy County Counsel in San Diego.
